NEWS

Congratulations the Maryland State Teams that participated at 4-H Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-up in Kentucky Nov. 6-9,2008.

Maryland 4-H Horse Bowl Team Team: Reserve National Championship with a Second place finish overall. Individuals: Ashleigh Friend (Garrett) earned Second place overall, Kaitlyn Pontuti (Baltimore) placing Ninth overall. Team members: Mackenzie Barnard (Howard), Ashleigh Friend (Garrett), Kaitlyn Pontuti (Baltimore), and Brook Dudrow (Talbot). Coach Dr. Al Starr (Howard).

Maryland 4-H Horse Judging Team Team: placed Fifth overall, eighth place in conformation classes, Seventh place in performance classes, and Tenth place in oral reasons. Individual: Rachel Ginn placed Tenth in conformation classes, Ninth in performance classes, Tenth in oral reasons, and Sixth overall. Team members: Leah Berry (Anne Arundel), Rachel Ginn (Cecil), Rebecca Hoffman (Carroll), and Leigh Ann Stead (Cecil). Coach Sabrina Ginn Cecil).

Maryland 4-H Hippology Team Team: placed Sixth overall, Eighth place in the Written phase, Sixth place in the Station phase. Individual: Stacey Heaver (Carroll) placed Eighth in the Judging phase, Seventh place in the Station phase, and Sixth place overall. Elena Stojic (Montgomery) placed Eighth in the Written phase. Team members: Stacey Heaver (Carroll), Megan Levin (Baltimore), Colleen Slevin (Carroll), and Elena Stojic (Montgomery). Coach Darryll-Ann Buschling (Howard).

Maryland 4-H Horse Communications Team, Team demonstration with Megan Jordan (Carroll) and Ashley Newman (Carroll) earned tenth place. Suzannah Macleod (Carroll) individual demonstration placed thirteenth. Kelly Nolte’s (Carroll) speech earned 12th place. Coach Janie Dell (Carroll)

Upcoming Events

The 2009 Maryland 4-H Horse Leaders Forum is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the University of Maryland College Park. This forum will provide an excellent opportunity for horse volunteers, teen leaders, and MCE staff to gain knowledge and skills in various horse and youth development topics. An opportunity to discuss updates and upcoming events in the Maryland 4-H Horse Program for the next year. You can also find more information on at MD 4-H Website
